Industrial Chic Wedding at Garver Feed Mill
Allison and Caroline celebrated in style for their quintessential Madison, Wisconsin, industrial chic wedding at Garver Feed Mill.
When Allison and Caroline followed me on Instagram, I immediately got excited with the hope that they would reach out for their wedding. These two had recently gotten engaged and I knew based on their profiles that their wedding would be a blast. Low and behold, they did reach out and as soon as we chatted on the phone, I was even more excited to capture their industrial chic wedding art Garver Feed Mill in Madison.
I can’t wait for you to see their amazing wedding day at Garver Feed Mill that I had the pleasure to capture.
Getting Ready
On their day, we started out with getting ready and detail photos at AC Hotel in Downtown Madison. I love photographing at the AC Hotel because there is so much natural light for getting ready photos with couples and their friends and family. Their suites are also large enough to fit multiple people in without feeling overcrowded. Guests also have the ability to rent out larger rooms for getting ready with a large group of people.
One of my favorite moments from their day was when Allison and Caroline’s mom’s helped them get into their wedding dresses. It was a really sweet experience and I loved capturing it for them.
First Look with Dad
After their emotional moments with mom, both Allison and Caroline had their first looks with dad before the ones with each other. These two really made sure family was first and foremost the most important part of their day (besides the wedding haha). I loved all of the touches they put into their day to make it really special for all those involved.
Couples’ first look
When we talked about their first look at the AC Hotel, Allison and Caroline were open to anything. I recommended having their first look on the balcony of Eno Vino Downtown, a hip tapas and cocktail restaurant located at the top levels of AC Hotel. It is a perfect option for couples looking for a great view in a beautiful space.
Couples’ Portraits
As soon as their first look happened, we took some portraits with their dog, Elsa, outside. And from there, we went inside the Capitol building for some gorgeous photos throughout the luxurious space. I always encourage my couples to take some time immediately after their first look to really soak in the fact that they are getting married. Your first look and portraits are some of the only time you will have alone on your wedding day, so I recommend really embracing it!
Allison and Caroline basically had the entire Wisconsin State Capitol building to ourselves as we took photos. The sunlight was shining through in the best way, and it honestly felt like we were the only people there!
Wedding Party & Family Photos
After their portraits, Allison, Caroline and their families headed to Garver Feed Mill for family photos and to prep for their ceremony. We took photos along the brick wall of Garver Feed Mill, and the curtain that separates the cocktail hour area from the ceremony and reception space. The natural light that Garver Feed Mill provides is always amazing for wedding day portraits.
The Ceremony
When it was almost time for guests to start arriving, I encouraged Allison and Caroline to return to the bridal suite to take a breather. This time allows for me to capture their ceremony space details.
When their ceremony began, I swear there was not a dry eye in the entire building. Their vows were amazing and along with all the inside jokes, it was a perfect representation of these two amazing ladies. Plus, their confetti kiss at the end was so fun to capture!
Cocktail Hour
As soon as cocktail hour started, that’s when the party really began. These two made the rounds throughout the Lounge and Bar spaces and made sure to greet as many people as possible. If you’re having a large wedding, Garver Feed Mill is one of those only venues in Madison, Wisconsin, that has space for every portion of the day. From getting ready to dancing, it’s easily one of the best choices in the city!
Dinner
One of the coolest thing about Allison and Caroline’s wedding was their incredible seating chart! These two met playing darts, so it was only fair to incorporate their favorite past time into their day.
I absolutely loved the way they set up their reception and dinner space to have photos of them on the wall, as well as their favorite song “You Make Me Smile.” When couples find ways to make their wedding day unique to them, it makes for amazing memories and moments to capture.
Dancing & Sunset Photos
After dinner and first dances with dad, I encouraged these two to set up a large group photo before their biggest surprise for their guests: Bucky the Badger. Allison works in the UW Athletics department, so it was a no-brainer to have the best mascot make an appearance on their day.
Once dancing really started up, I snuck Allison and Caroline outside to embrace the setting sun and take some final portraits of the evening.
Seeing these two embrace against the golden glow of sunset was the perfect way to end the day. I adored capturing these two and their connection and it truly shows in the photos!
Allison and Caroline’s industrial chic wedding at the Garver Feed Mill was such a great day to capture. I’m continuously thankful for couples who find my work and invite me into their most celebratory and intimate days. It’s a privilege I don’t take for granted and I’m so honored to call this my job!
Thanks, Allison and Caroline, for celebrating in style with the best crew!!
