Location
How to get to The Bur Oak
The Bur Oak is located just a few blocks north of the popular Atwood Avenue at 2262 Winnebago St, Madison, WI 53704. The easiest way to get to the Bur Oak is via Highway 12/18 (locally known as the Beltline).
- From the I-90: Take the exit for WI-30. Follow utnil you reach the East Washington Ave SOUTH exit. Follow East Washington for approximately one mile. Turn left onto N 6th Street. Take the first right at the roundabout and The Bur Oak will be located on your right.
- From the Beltline: Exit on John Nolen Drive and follow into downtown, continuing onto Blair Street. Make a right onto East Washington Avenue. Continue on East Washington Avenue for approximately two miles before turning right onto N 6th Street. Take the first right at the roundabout and The Bur Oak will be located on your right.
If you’re not local, it’s best to fly in to Dane County Regional Airport. From the Airport: Follow International Lane for approximately one mile until it ends. At end of the road, use the left two lanes to turn left onto WI-113 S. Stay here for one mile and turn left onto N 6th St. At the traffic circle, take the first exit onto Winnebago street. The Bur Oak will be on the right.
If you’re up for a drive or bus ride, you can fly into Milwaukee General Mitchell Airport, which is about 90 minutes away. You can travel to downtown Madison via Badger Bus or Uber.
You can also easily fly into Chicago’s Midway Airport or Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. From there, take the Van Galder Bus to downtown Madison.
There is also an Amtrak Station in Columbus, Wisconsin, which is roughly 30 minutes from Downtown Madison via car.


Where to park
Upon arriving at The Bur Oak, there are limited options available for parking:
- Street parking is relatively easy to come by on Winnebago street. Parking is free, but it’s requested to be respectful when heading home at the end of the evening.
- The Bur Oak has a first-come-first-served small parking lot on site. Generally, this parking lot will be full on wedding days for vendors and wedding party members.
It’s recommended to travel via ride share apps like Uber or Lyft or book a shuttle service for guests. Eliminating parking struggles is always appreciated



Where to stay
When choosing hotels for your wedding at the Bur Oak, I recommend looking into the following hotels:
- Hotel Indigo – Located less than two miles down the road, Hotel Indigo is a popular choice. They even offer a complimentary shuttle service, which will be perfect for the short distance to the Bur Oak.
- AC Hotel Madison Downtown – Right off the Capitol square, the AC hotel is one of the most popular for events in Madison. There’s even a restaurant on the top floors which is sure to stun your guests!
- Courtyard Madison East – Just down the road, right of of I-90 is the conveniently located Madison East Courtyard. A great option for those traveling from Chicago or from out of town.
- The Edgewater Hotel – Located steps away from Lake Mendota with stunning sunset views, the Edgewater Hotel is an excellent option for you and your guests.
For a unique local option, consider staying at these boutique hotels:
- Governor’s Mansion Inn – This historic mansion is a great choice for those looking for a weekend away without the crowds and with a bit of history. Bonus is that there’s plenty of room for getting ready the morning of.
