Right in the heart of downtown Madison, Wisconsin, lies the Tinsmith. As an original Trachte building, the new owners Jessica and Eric renovated the space throughout 2019 to be a perfect industrial-chic wedding venue! The Tinsmith features a solarium, ceremony space with reclaimed wood floors, a main hall with a gorgeous art-deco-inspired bar, a bridal getting ready suite, and an upper loft. Location
How to get to the Tinsmith
The Tinsmith is located at 828 E Main St, Madison, WI 53703. If traveling via car, the easiest way to get to the Tinsmith is via the Beltline aka, Highway 12/14) and the Interstate 39/90 to Highway 151. Using a popular tool like Google Maps or Waze are always recommended for up-to-date traffic information.
If you’re not local, it’s best to fly in to Dane County Regional Airport. If you’re up for a drive or bus ride, you can fly into Milwaukee General Mitchell Airport, which is about 90 minutes away. You can travel to downtown Madison via Badger Bus or Uber.
You can also easily fly into Chicago’s Midway Airport or Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. From there, take the Van Galder Bus to downtown Madison.
There is also an Amtrak Station in Columbus, Wisconsin, which is roughly 30 minutes from Downtown Madison via car.


Where to park
Upon arriving at the Tinsmith, there are a few options available for parking:
- Street parking – available for 2 hours on weekdays and unlimited on weekends and after 6pm on weekdays
- South Livingston St Parking Garage at 111 S Livingston St, Madison, WI 53703
It’s recommended to travel via ride share apps like Uber or Lyft or book a shuttle service for guests. Eliminating parking struggles is always appreciated

- Moxy Madison Downtown – Located right next door to the Tinsmith, Moxy is a fun, hip hotel featuring a restaurant stunning Capitol views
- AC Hotel Madison Downtown – Right off the Capitol square, the AC hotel is one of the most popular for events in Madison. There’s even a restaurant on the top floors which is sure to stun your guests!
- Madison Concourse Hotel – The Madison Concourse Hotel is perfect for those who want to stay close to all of the nightlife Madison has to offer.

- The Saddlery – With lake views and exposed brick throughout, The Saddlery is an excellent choice for anyone’s trip to Madison. Plus, it’s within walking distance to the Tinsmith.

Where to have your rehearsal dinner
- Vintage – Located just steps away from The Tinsmith, Vintage is a popular pick for rehearsal dinners. Their semi-private space has a private bar, floor to ceiling windows and art deco vibe.
- Old Sugar Distillery – One block away from the Tinsmith is Old Sugar Distillery. With their high ceilings and industrial vibe, it’s a perfect fit for your night-before celebration. They provide a full service bar and seating arrangements to tailor to your event.
- The Harvey House – This modern supper club is sure to impress even the biggest foodies. For your private event, The Harvey House will provide a custom menu, attentive staff and one of the best meals of your life!!
- Cooper’s Tavern – With amazing Capitol views, Cooper’s Tavern’s upper level is perfect for hosting your rehearsal dinner. They will work with you to create a menu and provide bar staff for your private bar.
- Turn Key – In a gorgeous historic buiding, Turn Key has multiple options for your rehearsal dinner from their full dining area to their patio.
- Lucille – With multiple spaces available for your party, Lucille is one of the best options! They’ll provide a private bar and dedicated staff to ensure your experience is perfect.
- The Edgewater – With gorgeous views, The Edgewater will provide the perfect backdrop for your rehearsal dinner.
- Eno Vino – Located at the top of the AC Hotel, Eno Vino is a tapas-inspired restaurant known for their craft cocktails and city views.

The Space
Outside & Patio
The Tinsmith has an inconspicuous look to it once you arrive. Upon pulling open the black gate you’re met with a cute patio with various seating options and a few plants. The patio is a great space to catch some air on nice days and a great place for some portraits and big group photos.


Solarium
Upon entering, you’re met with a gorgeous Solarium. It feels like a secret garden with towering Monsteras, cascading pothos, and a cute little mobile bar for cocktail hour. The beauty of The Tinsmith is that it hardly needs any decoration. The plants provide plenty of opportunity for photo backdrops as well as set the scene for a gorgeous day.

Bridal Suite
The gorgeous getting ready suite is perfect for smaller groups on wedding days! Multiple mirrors and a private bathroom allow for privacy and a cozy space to hang out with your closest people!


Ceremony Space
With it’s reclaimed wood floors, the Ceremony space is luxurious and minimalistic, meaning you can bring in any design to fit. Some clients create cascading displays of greenery and others simply have a few bouquets. It is all up to your wedding day style and vibe!
The Tinsmith also provides up to 200 ceremony chairs and a simple copper arch for your acting altar. Set up for your ceremony can begin at 10am.

Main Hall
The reception space is the largest footprint of the Tinsmith. It acts as where you’ll eat dinner, where your guests will order drinks, and where your speeches will be.
The Tinsmith can fit up to 200 guests in the Main Hall and loft. Set up for your reception can begin at 10am and must be cleaned up by 12:30am the following day.


Loft
The loft is a great bonus space for your wedding at the Tinsmith. I’ve seen couples use it as a game space, a kid hang out, and additional tables for dinner! It’s a great extra space to utilize for your day.
