My Elopement at Devil’s Lake

On a cold winter’s evening in Late March, my now husband and I decided to elope at Devil’s Lake State Park just outside Baraboo, Wisconsin. There were a lot of factor’s behind this plan to elope, but we knew that it would be the right choice for us.

As a wedding photographer. I’ve been to weddings with over 300 people and weddings where I was the only other person there besides the couple. There are a million ways to get married and clebrate with your favorite person and that’s why I keep photographing weddings all these years later. I am in love with the way people celebrate their love.

We knew we wanted a smaller elopement and Devil’s Lake had always held a special place in our hearts. We love the outdoors and hiking, plus it is only 45 minutes away from Madison and it’s gorgeous.

Once we decided on our location and date, we booked our photographer: the incredible Kaley Rae Photography. Once we booked with Kaley, the real planning began.

We invited some of our closest family and friends and asked our friend Isaac to officiate our ceremony. I made my bouquet and my husbands’ boutineer. It was truly the best day ever and I wouldn’t change it for a thing!
