Wisconsin elopement photographer for intimate weddings

Wisconsin intimate weddings are my favorite to photograph! Whether it’s just the two of you or a small group of your closest people, this is about celebrating your love exactly how you want to, without compromises or “shoulds”. And that’s magical.

Celebrating your love with the people who matter most

You want to have the best day of your life, in a way that feels like you. I know how right it can feel when you choose a smaller, more personal wedding day where you’re not trying to impress anyone else – my husband and I eloped!

I’ll help you build an experience around your day. Tell me what you love doing together, which locations feel meaningful, who you want there, and I’ll make suggestions based on what I’ve seen work. If you’re planning a last-minute elopement, reach out to see if I can help.

the moment they knew

I could tell you what it’s like to work with me. Or I could let them do it…

“As we were looking through Anya’s work, I was like – this is exactly what we want. This is the vibe we’re going for.

We didn’t need to compare other photographers. We just knew we wanted to work with Anya.”
  • Kim & Steven

“I wish there were 10 stars I could give!!! Anya is FABULOUS! …From the first time we met Anya, it felt like we were friends for YEARS!!

She is such a welcoming and special person! We felt so comfortable to be our authentic selves and get natural photos that captured our immense joy.”
  • Stephanie & Steven

“Anya was an absolute DREAM to work with. We hired her for our intimate wedding at the Wisconsin State Capitol.

She was organized, efficient, friendly, and fun! What more could you want? I’d highly, highly recommend working with Anya for your wedding.”

Your elopement is more than a ceremony – it’s an adventure

The best intimate weddings aren’t just a ceremony followed by portraits and a drive home – they’re a full experience. I always encourage couples to think about what the whole day feels like, because that’s when you get incredible shots.

There’s real beauty in having the freedom to do exactly what you want – no strict timeline, meticulous seating chart, or obligation invites to worry about. I’ll help you create a day that couldn’t belong to anyone else, and capture beautiful photos to match.

Who this intimate wedding photography service is for

Creative intimate wedding photography ideas

I’ve photographed elopements at a grandmother’s house where three generations squeezed into a mid-century living room, and I’ve even hiked to the top of Devil’s Lake bluffs as it meant a lot to the couple. Whatever it is that represents you, we can do it!

Here are a few ideas you could have fun with:

  • Hike to a scenic viewpoint before the ceremony.
  • Set up a picnic for your guests in the middle of a state park.
  • Bring champagne and spray it everywhere.
  • Go for dinner at your favourite restaurant straight afterwards, just the people who matter most around a single table.

Your ceremony will be beautiful. But the moments after – relaxed, unhurried, with your favorite people – are usually where the photos you’ll treasure most come from.

Showing your relationship as it really is – on both film and digital

I offer digital and film photography for all weddings. Digital gives you clarity and consistency. Every moment sharply captured, exactly as it happened. Film (35mm and medium format) provides a beautiful warmth, grainy quality, and perfectly imperfect feel.

You don’t need to choose between the formats – you get both in your gallery. Together, it’ll be hard to pick your favorite shots!

One honest caveat: film is unpredictable, and that’s part of what makes it special. But when it works, it’s magic. And in my experience, it usually works.

Ethereal, warm, and completely unforgettable

Sharp, bright, and true to the moment

“The film was a pleasant surprise. I maybe like the film more – most of my favorites are the film photos – but it’s nice to have both because they’re a different vibe.”

The film feels like we’re in a movie. It helps to feel like you could just step into that photo and be there. It’s perfectly imperfect.”

Planning a last-minute elopement? I’ve got you covered

Not every elopement comes with months of planning. Some of my favourite days have been booked a week out with couples who decided they were ready, found a date, and went for it.

I specialize in making last-minute elopements feel considered and intentional. I’ll condense my usual process down to fit your timeline. The one thing I ask is that you listen to my recommendations. Ten years and 150+ weddings in, I know what works!

Get in touch with your date, and I’ll come back to you straight away.

“There’s a photo of one of our grandmothers grabbing our other grandmother’s face and hugging – we weren’t even expecting to have that moment captured. When we saw it, that was everything. I’m obsessed with those photos in particular.

I just can’t get over the photos even today. Almost a year later, we still love our photos just as much as the day we opened our gallery.”

FAQs about my Wisconsin elopement photography service

Yes! I actively encourage couples who are eloping or having an intimate ceremony to carry on the celebrations at a different location. Whether that’s creating a picnic in the park, taking your closest friends and family to a private room in a restaurant, or anything else… ideally, you want photos beyond the ceremony. It’s when you relax and forget about the camera – that’s where the best photos come from!

A 30% deposit is due on booking to secure your date. Your remaining balance is due one month before your wedding. I’ll send a reminder when it’s coming up so nothing catches you off guard.

We will discuss a “bad weather back-up plan”, and I bring clear umbrellas to every wedding – they’re great for photos. If it’s genuinely throwing everything at us, I’ll have backup locations and indoor options ready. I can’t control the weather, but I can make sure it doesn’t ruin your photos.

Yes – film is included as standard across all my sessions – you don’t need to request it or pay extra. I shoot 35mm and medium format film throughout the day. Film gives your gallery that warm, timeless quality that’s hard to replicate any other way. It’s part of how I work, because I genuinely believe there’s magic in the slightly imperfect photos.

Quite a few! In Madison, I work frequently at the Wisconsin State Capitol, which is ideal for elopements. I’ve also shot at private estates, lakeside venues like Devil’s Lake, and plenty of places that don’t fit neatly into a category – which honestly tends to be where my couples feel most at home anyway.

And if you’ve already got somewhere in mind that I haven’t been to before, that’s not a problem. New venues just mean new corners to find, and it won’t impact your results in any way!

A lot of the couples I work with come from out of town and choose Wisconsin specifically for its venues and landscapes. If you’re still figuring out your venue and want a local opinion from an expert Wisconsin elopement wedding photographer, I’m happy to share what I know.

Planning a beautiful, intimate wedding day – and want photos to match?
