Most couples haven’t been professionally photographed together before, so it’s completely normal if you feel nervous! Lucky for you, I’m experienced at making you feel at ease behind the camera.

This is for recently engaged couples. Engagement sessions are included as standard in all my wedding packages because I’ve seen the difference it makes. 

They’re also available as a standalone session if you haven’t yet decided on your wedding photographer – priced from only $850 for Madison-based couples. If you go on to book your wedding with me, you’ll receive an additional hour of coverage on your day at no extra cost.

Creative engagement shoot ideas – for photos that feel like you

The best photos come from couples who are somewhere that means something to them – it shows in every shot. I’ll work with you to figure out how to capture engagement photos in a way that reflects your relationship. 

You could have your engagement shoot in a range of locations, like: 

  • The place you went for your first date – very romantic! 
  • Your favorite coffee shop that you visit every Sunday morning
  • At home – relaxed, natural, with your dog inevitably stealing the show
  • A hike somewhere meaningful – Devil’s Lake is a favorite of mine!
  • Somewhere weird that only makes sense to the two of you
  • The place where you said “I love you” for the first time

If you want to bring the dog, go for it! I’m a dog mum myself, and I can’t guarantee cooperation, but we’ll definitely have some fun in the process.

Showing your relationship as it really is – on both film and digital

I offer digital and film photography for all engagement sessions – and for all wedding days.

Digital gives you clarity and consistency. Every moment sharply captured, exactly as it happened. Film (35mm and medium format) provides a beautiful warmth, grainy quality, and perfectly imperfect feel. 

You don’t need to choose between the formats – you get both in your gallery. Together, it’ll be hard to pick your favorite shots!

One honest caveat: film is unpredictable, and that’s part of what makes it special. But when it works, it’s magic. And in my experience, it usually works.

If you’re booking as part of a wedding package, your engagement session rolls seamlessly into your wedding day coverage. I’ll be beside you when you say yes to each other, too. I’ll discuss everything on a call with you, so you know exactly what to expect.

Before we shoot

  • A welcome questionnaire so I know your story: How you met, what matters to you, where you want to go, and whether your Labrador is likely to behave
  • Location consultation. I’ll help confirm or suggest the right spot based on what you’ve told me
  • Outfit guidance so you feel confident before we’ve even started

On the day

  • Natural, relaxed direction throughout – prompts that get you laughing and at ease
  • One or more locations, depending on your story
  • Film and digital shots throughout 
  • Me, fully invested, from the first frame to the last!

After your session

  • A sneak peek within 48 hours (or sooner!)
  • Your full edited gallery will be delivered digitally within three weeks
  • Prints and albums are available to add to any package so you have beautiful copies to hold in your hands.

Prices for standalone Madison-based engagement shoots start at $850. Most sessions are typically 1-2 hours in one or two locations. 

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, I offer packages to suit elopements, intimate weddings, and traditional wedding set-ups. Every wedding package includes your engagement session – it’s not an add-on!

Lock it in

If you want to go ahead, I’ll send over a contract, and you’ll pay a deposit to secure your date. That’s it – you’re booked.

Engagement session

Show up, be yourselves, and let me do the rest. Bring your pup! Your photos will be ready a few weeks after we shoot.

If your engagement session is part of a wedding package, we start your wedding prep next! Don’t worry, I’ll talk you through the full process on a call. I know it can be a lot.

I’ve been part of some genuinely unforgettable proposals – including one where the person who’d already been proposed to wanted to do the same in return. It was one of my favourite days behind the camera.

Proposal shoots take a little more coordination than a standard session. I’ll need to know the plan, find my position early, and be ready to capture a moment that can’t be repeated. But that’s exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy, and the results are worth every bit of the planning.

A 30% deposit is due on booking to secure your date. Your remaining balance is due one week before your session. I’ll send a reminder when it’s coming up so nothing catches you off guard.

This depends on how many locations you’d like to include. Usually, it’s a couple of hours. We’ll confirm everything before your session so you know exactly what to expect.

Yes — film is included as standard across all my sessions. I shoot 35mm and medium format film throughout. You don’t need to request it or pay extra for it. It’s just part of how I work, because I genuinely believe it makes the gallery better.

Yes, and I’d encourage it if you’ve got more than one place that feels meaningful. We’ll plan this out together during your pre-session consultation.

Please do. I’m a dog and rabbit mom, and I love animals! I can’t promise they’ll cooperate perfectly, but in my experience, the chaotic ones make for the best photos anyway.
