Your wedding shouldn’t belong to anyone else – nor should your photo gallery

My favorite couples to photograph share an attitude: They’re trying to have the best day of their lives, in a way that feels like them – and they’re not trying to impress anyone else in the process.

Whoever you are and whoever you’re marrying, if that sounds like your vibe, we’ll get along!

the moment they knew

I could tell you what it’s like to work with me. Or I could let them do it…

  • Ashley & Alicia

“As we were looking through Anya’s work, I was like – this is exactly what we want. This is the vibe we’re going for.

We didn’t need to compare other photographers. We just knew we wanted to work with Anya.”

    Gina & Matt

“I wanted our photos to truly stand the test of time. Anya’s work screamed classic and timeless from the very first scroll.

Anya really helped both of us feel more comfortable with just being ourselves, and she captured truly how light the day felt.”
  • Hannah & Jack

“Anya was the one thing about our wedding that we were not stressed about – not even for a second.

Booking Anya was the best wedding decision that we made.”

You’d rather be living your day than performing for the camera…

Ok, let’s be real. You’re not getting married to have incredible photos – you’re getting married to have a partner and to celebrate with your friends and family.

But great wedding photos are essential if you want to look back on your day with happy tears for years to come. And the moments you didn’t even see on the day might be the ones you revisit the most…

As your wedding photographer, my role is to capture your newlywed bliss while you’re busy living it – not pulling you away from your guests for hours of posing. The less time you spend thinking about the camera, the better!

Having worked with over 150 couples, I’m pretty good at reading the room and knowing how to get the best photos, whether that’s blending into the background or hyping you up to increase the energy.

Who this wedding photography service is for

This is for couples looking for at least 6 hours of coverage, typically with 80-100 guests or more. My package prices start at $4800 for 6 hours of coverage on your wedding day, and an engagement session.

If you’re looking for a more intimate wedding day, please check out my elopements page – that’s a slightly different experience, and I’d love to talk you through it.

Capturing Wisconsin wedding venues – from well-known places to hidden gems

I’ve shot at the most popular large Wisconsin wedding venues in Madison – and plenty of off-the-beaten-track ones! Here are a few I know like the back of my hand:

Don’t see your venue? Don’t worry. I’ve worked in converted barns, private estates, industrial spaces, public parks, and everything in between. New venues just mean new shots waiting to be found.

Showing your relationship as it really is – on both film and digital

I offer digital and film photography for all weddings. Digital gives you clarity and consistency. Every moment sharply captured, exactly as it happened. Film (35mm and medium format) provides a beautiful warmth, grainy quality, and perfectly imperfect feel.

You don’t need to choose between the formats – you get both in your gallery. Together, it’ll be hard to pick your favorite shots!

One honest caveat: film is unpredictable, and that’s part of what makes it special. But when it works, it’s magic. And in my experience, it usually works.

“The film was a pleasant surprise. I maybe like the film more – most of my favorites are the film photos – but it’s nice to have both because they’re a different vibe.”

The film feels like we’re in a movie. It helps to feel like you could just step into that photo and be there. It’s perfectly imperfect.”

“There’s a photo of one of our grandmothers grabbing our other grandmother’s face and hugging – we weren’t even expecting to have that moment captured. When we saw it, that was everything. I’m obsessed with those photos in particular.

I just can’t get over the photos even today. Almost a year later, we still love our photos just as much as the day we opened our gallery.”

FAQs about my Wisconsin wedding photography service

For the vast majority of weddings, no – and that’s a deliberate choice. Working alone means consistent quality and a more relaxed atmosphere. For very large weddings or specific circumstances, I do bring in a second shooter, but only people I fully trust, and I’ll always discuss it with you first.

A 30% deposit is due on booking to secure your date. Your remaining balance is due one month before your wedding. I’ll send a reminder when it’s coming up so nothing catches you off guard.

We will discuss a “bad weather back-up plan”, and I bring clear umbrellas to every wedding – they’re great for photos. If it’s genuinely throwing everything at us, I’ll have backup locations and indoor options ready. I can’t control the weather, but I can make sure it doesn’t ruin your photos.

Yes – film is included as standard across all my sessions – you don’t need to request it or pay extra. I shoot 35mm and medium format film throughout the day. Film gives your gallery that warm, timeless quality that’s hard to replicate any other way. It’s part of how I work, because I genuinely believe there’s magic in the slightly imperfect photos.

Quite a few! In Madison, I shoot regularly at the Tinsmith, which is one of my favorites – I’m on the preferred vendor list there, so the team and I know each other well. I also work frequently at the Wisconsin State Capitol, which is the home of most of my elopement work. The Goodman Community Center, a brilliant option for couples who want something more affordable without sacrificing atmosphere. And I love the Madison Club – the architecture is stunning!

Beyond those, I’ve shot at converted barns, private estates, university spaces, lakeside venues like Devil’s Lake, and plenty of places that don’t fit neatly into a category – which honestly tends to be where my couples feel most at home anyway.

And if you’ve already got somewhere in mind that I haven’t been to before, that’s not a problem. New venues just mean new corners to find, and it won’t impact your results in any way!

A lot of the couples I work with come from out of town and choose Wisconsin specifically for its venues and landscapes. If you’re still figuring out your venue and want a local opinion from an expert Wisconsin wedding photographer, I’m happy to share what I know.

Excited about wedding photos that feel like you?
